March Band of the Month - The Double Divas

Classical and light opera

 

Double Divas are a highly experienced, versatile and accomplished classical duo who can offer entertainment to suit any occasion.We can provide you with music for weddings, opera galas, musical theatre evenings, corporate entertainment, cabaret and everything in between! We work with either a pianist or backing tracks depending on the requirements and can tailor our performance to meet your specific needs. Sarah has a wide concert repertoire and regularly appears as a soloist in the UK and Europe and combines this with her other career as a cabaret artist, presenting a diverse musical range “from Bach to Britten” with even a touch of Abba! Sarah has performed at charity and corporate events and provided  after dinner entertainment for companies across the country. In 2003 Sarah was chosen to support Dexy’s Midnight Runners in their  successful comeback tour and made her Royal Festival Hall debut singing a programme of classical spiritual music. Sarah is also an accomplished designer, creating concert and evening wear and has designed costumes for a number of operas.

 

Music from Bach to Britten

 

Andrea studied Voice at the Birmingham  Conservatoire and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance. Operatic roles for the Conservatoire include Sinaide (Rossini – Mose), Polissena (Handel – Radamisto), Susannah (Mozart – Marriage of Figaro) and Fire and Nightingale (Ravel – L’Enfant et les Sortileges.) She was the winner of the Conservatoire’s Oratorio prize and regularly performs as a soloist with choirs throughout the country.

Since graduating Andrea has toured  extensively with the Carl Rosa Opera  Company in the Mikado, Iolanthe, Yeoman of the Guard and Die Fledermaus where she  covered the role of Rosalinda. She has also worked with Mid Wales Opera (First genie- Magic Flute) and with Opera Brava (Miss Silverpeal – The Impresrio.) She sang for the Professional Opera Company at the Buxton International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival and has also   performed the role of Phyllis (Iolanthe) at the Woodthorpe Festival.

Andrea’s concert work remains varied and includes performances for The Ensemble and Oxford Philomusica at the Royal Festival Hall and the Purcell Rooms. She has also spent two seasons performing at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular! She regularly performs as a soloist at charity and corporate events.
